Scarf #3

Scarf #3This scarf is knitted from one and a half 100g balls of Rowan Drift wool using 15mm needles.

The pattern is based around chequerboard stitching that I had designed previously, which prevents the scarf from curling up due to too large an expanse of plain knit. It was borne out of practicality and I like it because it looks interesting without being ornate.

In this version, four stitches in each row go towards making an edging that is consistent along the length of the scarf – lending it a more controlled appearance.

Pattern instructions

  1. Cast on 16 stitches
  2. K16
  3. Repeat 20 times {

Notes

Whilst stitch-length does vary upon each individual’s knitting style, I took a photo of my stitch dimensions in this project as a reference, which work out as being 10 mm long by 8.1 mm wide.

To keep track of where I am, I find it useful to tick off each row as I go.
